Once upon a time in a village is on the edge of Lake Toba there lived a husband and a wife with his beautiful daughter named Seruni. In addition to beautiful, chrysanthemum is also classified as a diligent kid for always helping his parents when they were working in a field that results are used to meet the needs of everyday life.One day, Seruni have to work in the fields alone because both parents were there is a need in the neighboring village. He was only accompanied by a pet dog named Si Toki. Arriving in the fields Chrysanthemum just sat there looking at the natural beauty of Lake Toba. While the dog, Si Toki, sat down beside staring at her employer's face looked like facing a problem. The occasional barking dog to distract Chrysanthemum if there is anything suspicious around the fields.
Actually, the last few days Seruni always looked glum. This is because the father will arrange a marriage with a young man who is still considered his own cousin. In fact, he had a love affair with a young man in the village and have pledged will also foster home. This situation makes it confused, not knowing what to do, and began to despair. On the one hand he did not want to disappoint her parents, but on the other hand he could not bear to part with her idol youth.
After pondering a moment and without any results, Seruni rose from where he sat. With tears loose he walked slowly toward Lake Toba. Apparently he was very desperate and wanted to end his life by jumping into Lake Toba. While Si Toki who also followed his master to the edge of the lake can only be barking because they do not know what is going on in the minds of Chrysanthemum.
As I walked toward the cliffs on the shores of Lake Toba, she suddenly fell into a hole large stone to get into the base. And, because it is located at the base of a very dark, making the beautiful girl became frightened and shouted for help to his dog. However, since Si Toki only an animal, then he could do nothing but constantly barking around the mouth of the hole.
Finally the girl was getting desperate and thought, "Ah, I'd rather die."
Having said that, for some reason the walls of the hole begins to close. "Parapat ...! Parapat rock! "Cried Seruni stone wall that is getting closer and choke her.
Si Toki saw the incident immediately ran to the house to ask for help. At home Si Toki immediately approached Seruni parents who happen to already be at home. Barking, pawing the ground and pacing around his employer, Si Toki tried to tell that Chrysanthemum in danger.
Aware of what is implied by the dog, parents Seruni immediately headed for the field. Both ran after Si Toki up to the edge of the hole where their daughters fall. When he heard her screams from inside the hole, Mother immediately make a torch as a torch for it was already dusk. While the father ran back to the village to ask for help the neighbors.
Not long later, most of the neighbors had gathered at the father's home Seruni together toward the hole where Seruni mired. They were carrying a bamboo ladder, mines, and torch as illumination.
Arriving troupe in the fields, while tears Mother Seruni said to her husband, "Sir, the hole is too deep and opaque. I only heard the faint sound of our children who said: Parapat, Parapat stone ... "

Some time after the shaking stops, at the top of the hole that had closed it appeared a large rock that resembles a girl's body that seems to hang on the walls of the cliff on the shores of Lake Toba. People who saw the incident believe that the rock is an incarnation of Seruni and later renamed it as "Hanging Rock".
And, because the Seruni last speech heard by residents only "Parapat, Parapat and Parapat", then the area around Hanging Rock later named Parapat. Parapat has now been transformed into one of the tourist destinations in the province of North Sumatra.
